The Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI) is a private and collective research institute. BBRI is a founding member of ENBRI (European Network of Building Research Institutes) and ECCREDI. It is also in charge of the performance assessment of new products applying for a technical approval at Belgian level (BUTGB-UBATC) and is involved in the European technical approval (EUTGB-UEATC).
Through its laboratory Sustainable Development, BBRI is heavily involved in sustainable construction research projects on European level, national level and development for regional authorities and companies. Major activities of research are sustainable construction and the evaluation of the environmental impact of buildings, construction & demolition waste and recycling, and accessibility.
